Butchko for Morris Plains

Someday Democrat Wayne Marek is going to win an election.

He already has one under his belt, a seat on the Morris Plains K-8 Board of Education.

He has been less successful elsewhere, running twice for State Assembly and losing both times.

Now he’s at it again, running for mayor of Morris Plains, hoping to go up against the venerable Republican, Mayor Frank Druetzler.

He faces a challenge in that from former Township Committeeman Mike Butchko in the Tuesday June 8 Democratic Primary.

Marek thinks Butchko, who was last on the Borough Council in the 1980s, is old hat.

Maybe so, but Butchko is a hat that wears better.

Butchko seems attuned to the issues facing Morris Plains.

Marek always seems to be seeing beyond to some other political battlefield.

We like Marek, we just would like him to settle down and focus on one issue for more than a few months.

Butchko has lived in Morris Plains for years, is concerned about the Route 53 corridor and local taxes.

Marek is taking a philosophical stance on the concept of “home rule.”

We think Butchko already has the maturity that someday will also belong to Marek.

Wait for Marek.

Vote for Butchko.
