From Chris Gargano, Chairman, Morris Plains Democratic Party
It is has been my pleasure to serve as your Democratic Committee Chairman for the past two years. The health of our community and our country depends on the active involvement of its citizens. And this extends to caring about politics. It is easier to be cynical today about politics and politicians, but politics is the working machinery of our democracy. If we turn our backs on politics we turn our backs on the very thing that makes our country the greatest democracy in the world. Your assistance and involvement has made the Morris Plains Democratic Committee a model for other local Democratic Committees in Morris County. Our ability to organize and mobilize as a political party in Morris Plains has been exemplary and I am proud of our accomplishments in such a brief period of time. We have assembled a respectable political party with a cross section of differing ages and life experiences. We have given the citizens of Morris Plains a choice in the political process and for that alone I thank you.

On Monday June 9, 2008 at 7 pm (after the primary) I have called a Morris Plains Democratic Committee Reorganization meeting to elect/reelect Municipal Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Sargeant at Arms. I will obtain the list of all the newly elected County Committee people from Morris Plains from the Municipal Clerk. The newly elected County Committee people should bring their credentials to the Municipal Reorganization meeting as verification of their right to vote. At 7 pm I will appoint Michael Butchko (or another alternate if he can not serve) as interim chairman and he will preside over the election at which time the newly elected County Committe people will vote. Following the vote we will have our regular meeting at 7:30 pm.
All of the newly elected County Committe people should retain their credentials and bring them to the Morris County Democratic Committee Reorganization Convention on TUESDAY JUNE 10, 2008 at the Knoll East in Parsippany. Credentials for the County Convention will be accepted between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm. The Convention will start promptly at 7:30 pm. Prior to the election/reelection of officers, amended by laws and standing convention rules will be presented and votes will be cast. It is extremely important that we have a sufficient number elected Committee people present on time to have a Quorum.
Please make every effort to attend.
