Veasey-Heckler Team Platform

It's Time For Change in Morris Plains

For nearly twenty years, one political party unanimously controlled the Morris Plains Borough Council. One party dominance was not effective democracy. There was no oversight, limited citizen participation, and lack of full and open disclosure of all government actions.

In 2007, Republicans, Democrats and Independents together decided it was time for change and chipped away at the one party dominance of our borough council with the election of Jason Karr. However, one new voice is not enough to ensure a balanced and open government.

To make your voice heard in Morris Plains we need a more balanced and open Council.

Dorothy Veasey and Mark Heckler care about:

  • The quality of life of all Morris Plains citizens
  • Having an open and responsive government
  • Protecting the safety of all citizens

If elected, we will

  • Make Borough ordinances and Council agendas, meetings and minutes easily available to all citizens
  • Address our declining property values and declining ratings in New Jersey Monthly
  • Protect children and senior citizens by slowing traffic and making crossings safer
  • Listen to your concerns and opinions
  • Engage the talents of the entire community and be open to new ideas
  • Be fiscally responsible to all residents
  • Improve the appearance of Speedwell Avenue—our front yard

“Morris Plains needs Council members who care about all citizens. Vote for a balanced Council.”
